HomeGRENADESEUROPEFrance

The first model gasgrenade from 1914 was made of brass and tinned on the inside, later made of steel and tinned on both sides. The brass type had a red band over the body, the steel grenade had it's whole upper half painted red.
The fuze had a match compound.
After 1916 a Billiant fuze was fitted.

Height 125mm, Width 60mm.
Weight 400 gram including 200 gram liquid teargas.

I came accross an old german document describing enemy ammunition.
Here, this French grenade was described as "Franz. Stinkbombe".
