The first model gasgrenade from 1914 was made of brass and tinned on the inside, later made of steel and tinned on both sides. The brass type had a red band over the body, the steel grenade had it's whole upper half painted red. The fuze had a match compound. After 1916 a Billiant fuze was fitted.
