This first French "hand" grenade was nothing more then a small cannonball.
The cast iron body was filled with gunpowder and had a wooden timefuze.
It had to be lit by hand and the delay would be 4-5 seconds.
The weight was 1.9Kilo (!) and it's diameter was 90mm.
