This Austrian grenade was made by the soldiers on the battlefield. It consisted of a wooden stick with a tin fixed to it , filled with Explosives. Extra shrapnel could have been added , as shown on the photo (Barbed wire). A safety fuze was lit by hand before throwing. The German Army made a similar grenade in WW1.
