Description copied from FM 23-30-1944 :

MkIIIA1: This limited standard grenade consists of a die-cast top which is threaded to recieve the fuze, detonating, hand grenade M6A2, and a body of laminated cartridge paper which contains the high-explosive charge. This grenade is for demolition. It may be used in the open more safely than the fragmentation grenade because there is no marked fragmentation. Grenade bodies and fuzes are shipped seperately.

Drawing on the left shows the first version of the MkIII.

Mk3 A2

The body of the A2 version is slightly different, but results in the effects when used.
The fuze was no longer the
M6, but changed for the M206 serie.
