This Thermite grenade was used for the destruction of equipment. Originally, this was a French design of 1916, called Grenade á Main Incendiare, Mle1916, Cylindrique. It is unknown if these were made in the US or if the US ordered these with the French manufacturer.
The body was made from a thin metal cylinder with both top and base crimped and soldered on. The top would accept the French percussion fuze of 1916, with a 5 seconds delay. It had a grey painted body with a paper label around it with the designation printed on it.
Length: , diameter: 63mm. Weight: 737gram. 24 grenades were fitted in a wooden case, with 24 fuzes packed seperately in the same case.
